Frog Inspired Half Bathroom

Inspired by a frog toilet brush cleaner, this half bathroom in partnership with Bath Depot was designed to have an elevated look with minimalist clean lines balanced with a maximalist colour palette.

The first challenge was creating a colour palette for the wallpaper that is fun and elevated without looking childish or cartoon-ish. Why was this important? Because the colours of the details would match the wallpaper; either silver, black or gold. The aim was to find a subtle pattern, but this was difficult to find. Then, inspiration struck when an origami frog came across my screen. My original design had a blue background with bright frog colours, but an inverted colour palette which showcased yellows and greens seemed more appropriate. This looked more elevated with warm tones instead of cool tones. The wallpaper combines line-drawn minimalist elements with bold maximalist colour and a gold sheen.

The cabinets from Bath Depot provided a modern, minimalist feel with clean lines and a matte finish. The over-the-toilet cabinet provided shelving and storage while the vanity provided additional storage. The porceline sink is acccented with the brushed gold tap while the room is lit with a brushed gold dimmable LED light, creating a cohesive atmosphere with all elements of the bathroom.

The next big challenge would be the gallery wall which would be reflected in the mirror and examined when people are sitting on the toilet. The idea was to balance different artistic styles with a variety of vintage and modern gold frames. This was achieved by balancing colours in the photos with the greens and pinks which provided complimentary accents to the warm, yellow tones.

The yellow curtains balance out the greens from the wallpaper ensuring the colours are not overwhelming by themselves and providing an additional warm light as the sun shines through. The sheer curtains allows the outside to be seen while allowing a flow of light into the room.
