Glamping in Kananaskis: Your Next Adventure Awaits at Mount Engadine Lodge

Nestled in the heart of Kananaskis County, Mount Engadine Lodge offers visitors an unforgettable experience in a breathtaking mountainous valley setting. Walk out the front door and onto the trails of the Canadian Rocky Mountains where you can mountain bike, hike, country ski or snowshoe your way around the breathtaking views. The Canadian style interior design with wood burning fireplaces and an old fashioned canoe hung from the ceiling is a relaxing getaway, welcoming guests with open arms and providing a cozy home away from home.

The lodge itself is a stunning sight to behold, with its rustic log construction and charming decor. Guests can choose from a variety of accommodations, including rooms in the main lodge, glamping tents, or a yurt (the yurt is only available during the summer season). The maximum occupancy is just 38 guests, ensuring a personal and intimate experience.

The glamping tents offer a soft king bed (or two singles), a cozy pull out couch nestled in front of a fireplace, a dining table for two and a bathroom with a shower. In the summer, you can sit out on your personal deck, however, the temperatures plummeted during our visit reaching a high of -23C, so we opted to keep warm next to the fireplaces both in our glamping tent and in the lodge.

One of the highlights of a stay at Mount Engadine Lodge is the all-inclusive meal plan, which features delicious and wholesome dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. The meals are freshly prepared by a talented chef who is happy to accommodate all dietary needs and allergies, ensuring that every guest can enjoy their meals to the fullest.

Mount Engadine Kananaskis Charcuterie Board

With a list of complicated dietary needs, I was shocked that Mount Engadine Lodge was able to accommodate; gluten free with no onions and no garlic. Our meals started off with a charcuterie board filled with 4 meats, 4 cheeses, sauces, dried fruits, nuts and crackers (or in my case, gluten free bread) served on a charcuterie board shaped like Alberta with Alberta locations marked on the map! We could help ourselves to tea, coffee and water and had the option for a hot chocolate or a hot apple cider (both were delightful). We finished off our meal with a Mint Chocolate Cake and Coconut Delight Cake and in my case, a Gluten Free Brownie that was perfectly warmed while holding its moisture.

For dinner, we indulged in carrot soup, roasted pork chop and earl grey creme brûlée, I was so stuffed from our mouth watering menu that I couldn't even bring myself to finish the earl grey creme brûlée (creme brûlée being my absolute favourite)! Everything was cooked to perfection and as I recall, my exact words were "colour me impressed!" To be fair, this is my first official food review as most places struggle to accommodate my needs, making this a truly extra special experience for those with dietary needs.

Our original plan was to hike the Rummel Lake trail, but the weather had turned and it was colder than we planned. The snow storm the day before caused us to be uncertain that the trail would be safe. We decided on a trail that crossed the small bridge in front of the lodge and went along what would be a rivers' edge in the summer, but in winter it is a frozen wonderland. Wind blew the snow around, making the air sparkle when the sun poked out. While the trail had been packed down by those before us, we reached a point where it seemed like most people had turned around. The snow was so deep and fluffy that we decided it would be best to turn around as well.
